For so long, we have lived this life of privilege, and we have forgotten our brothers and sisters on the other side. "Ain't no reason things are this way." "Just because it is, doesn't mean it should be." They were in pain. They were invisible. But we opened our eyes. We heard their voices. We gave each other hope. What more is there in life? This is living.
The heart of our community is an ocean. Let us absorb the world's pain and allow the healing to begin.
Thank you Camp CommUNITY 2011. You are my reason.

This is living.
She had been betrayed her whole life. She thought she could never trust anyone ever again. He had been used. He had been profiled. She had lost all hope. She stared at the bottle of pills. He had been thrown into a system with no open doors. She had been abused. He was afraid that he would end up like his father. He would cry and cry, but no one was listening. She had forgotten how to love. He had lost everyone he ever loved. She lost faith in humanity. They were in pain. They were invisible. But we opened our eyes. We heard their voices. We gave them hope. What more is there in life? This is living.
The heart of our community is an ocean. Let us absorb the world's pain and allow the healing to begin.
Thank you Camp CommUNITY 2010 for giving me this fulfilled and beautiful life.
